Lady in the Lane

Lady in the Lane

Is it true or just legend
That as they round that bend
So many have claimed
They've seen a ghostly figure
Of a Lady in the Lane

Waiting at the old twisted tree
For her spirit to be set free
She looks so sad and forlorn
I wonder who was meeting
That poor Lady in the Lane

Was she a wife, a mother
Or maybe somebody's lover
Was it a crime of passion
That cut short the young life
Of a Lady in the Lane

It was just past the bend
That her life came to an end
A mystery it will remain
How death came and took
That poor Lady in the Lane
